The only thing that annoyed me was a feeling that Harold enjoys too much being in charge.Would recommend this book Very good book, and all other books from this author, it can help improve your skiing.
The next time I went to the mountain I was skiing parallel and controlling my speed with the "phantom turn". I'm not a professional instructor, but every year I will find someone on the mountain, struggling to get down a simple Green run using the wedge. Many so-called "professional" ski instructors want to trap you into thinking that the only way to learn how to ski is to start with the wedge. Now I can ski almost the entire mountain, and can do so without feeling out of control. And I've taken the PMTS teaching and shown others how to do it as well. I'll offer a few tips straight from Harald's teaching methods, and usually I'll have the person skiing parallel and in control after 15 minutes of instruction. So throw out the wedge, and learn how to really ski. I know that's how I learned how to ski. And it's what kept me off the Blue and Black runs for the first three years of skiing. But then I discovered PMTS, and Harald Harb's program.
Great book.Be sure to get the video, too. Ugly cover.
In my opinion it worth at least $4200I got 4.Slava G. They priced this book way low. I participated at list 1 camp every year (some years 2 camps) and private lessons with HH and his team for last 7 yearsI literally learned to ski from Harald and Diana (I started skiing 1999 spring)Info contained in this book and exercises described have been tested on meand me alike. They do work and work brilliantly. If you still don't have a book please buy and buy more than one give support to Harb Ski Systems.
This book has what you need to make progress as a skier. They seem to focus on the fact that he is not preaching the "approved" PSIA method. Any individual lesson or exercise can be used independently - so you can pick one as a refresher to practice on. The book is readable and coherent. There are a few of defenders of Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and other ski instruction books that have posted here and given what I think are unfair low ratings.
Give it an honest try and then go pay $75 for a PSIA "approved" lesson and see which one gave you more insight and advancement. So what. I had taken numerous lessons from PSIA intructors and progress was slow. Oh my, Mr. My opinion is that most self-motivated skiers could benefit from the lessons in this book (at a low price). The photo sequences are highlighted to point out the objective.
Is there only one way to teach someone how to ski.I personally used this book and advanced my ski skill and confidence in a few weeks, after having stagnated for a couple of years. Harb challenged the Ski Instructors PSIA church. The lessons are well sequenced with accurate and detailed descriptions of exercises. I think they are somewhat narrow in their criticism.
